We are pleased to announce a partnership between Avion Express and the Lithuanian Aviation Academy (VGTU A. Gustaitis’ Aviation Institute (AGAI)).
Avion Express Technical Vice President Romas Žakys says, “As a VGTU AGAI alumni myself, I could not feel more proud about this partnership. We have been working with VGTU on several projects for a while already, and I am certain that this official partnership will now allow us to accomplish even more with the ultimate aim to advance aviation knowledge in Lithuania”.
In 2015 Avion Express celebrated its 10th anniversary. On this occasion, it was decided to donate to the institution the cockpit of the first Airbus 320 aircraft that was ever registered in Lithuania (LY-VEX). The aircraft was de-commissioned and in the process of being parted out. The cockpit was separated from the hull and shipped over to Vilnius from Montreal, Canada. VGTU AGAI Director Jonas Vytautas Jusionis said that “the cockpit has been put to good use with the engineering students gathering valuable experience on contemporary aircraft construction”.
Avion Express, the largest narrow-body ACMI operator, is currently operating 16 Airbus 319/320/321 aircraft. With a growing aviation sector in Lithuania, it is important to sponsor the academic activity at VGTU, especially those pursuing Aircraft Studies. As part of our continued support, Avion Express has donated an aircraft propeller to this excellent institution.
